64 C. Right headlight/ highbeam dim. Left headlight/highbeam ok. Disconnected ground from inside battery compartment on passenger side and this has no effect on the left headlight... still on and dim. Connected this directly to ground and still dim. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Eric

Clean all the connections especially coming out of the relay. Also swap headlights and see if the dim headlight moves with the swap.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

Try cleaning fuse #11+12 terminals and maybe even replacing the fuses.

Do a methodical check from A to Z or in this case, as Doug suggested, start at the fuse panel and move through the circuit to the head lights. Has one light been replaced with possibly the wrong voltage?

Re: Dim Headlight C car
From what you did it sounds like the ground connection at the headlight itself may not be making good contact, although the wire to it may be well grounded.

Re: Dim Headlight C car
Check the connections to the headlight that is malfunctioning. If the connections to the low beam and the ground are inadvertently reversed, low beam still functions properly, but when you select high beam, current flow goes through both filaments, resulting in a dim-appearing light.

Re: Dim Headlight C car
I believe there is a bullet connector going into a fast-on adaptor inside the small black plastic housing of the headlight connector. That bullet connector and the fast-on (tab) connector are two more places to check for resistance.
Turn on your headlights. Take a volt meter and start measuring voltage drops across all the connection locations (switches, relays, fuses, connectors, ground lugs). Measure them, sketch them, and write down your numerical findings methodically. Then attack the places with the biggest voltage drops.

Re: Dim Headlight C car
Thanks to everyone for your advice. It was simply a bad connector on the headlight. Replaced the headlight and all is good.
Really appreciate all of your help!
