Getting this back to the title subject of this thread there will be two opportunities to put your Porsche "On the Boardwalk" at the 2018 East Coast Holiday:

Boardwalk Promenade (Friday) http://eastcoastholiday2018ocnj.org/eve ... promenade/

and

Concours and Car Show (Saturday) http://eastcoastholiday2018ocnj.org/eve ... /concours/

Yes, the best reaction is when I bring a 356, but when this guy showed up this year, it didn't matter what I brought...he won!

Very nice, I think I had a model of that as a kid, or a friend did, or something...anyway, that bubble top is so cool!

Amazing that the Beatnik Bandit is still around, I remember when Big Daddy Ed Roth showed up nat the Oakland Roadster Show with it, guessing 1962??? Plus he had all of the Rat Fink stuff, he had a huge cult following and really started the T-Shirt car-toon trend. He also liked VWs and drove some daily, one had a 356 engine. He did a shirt for one of my friends back in the early 70's with a Speedster and R.F.

Getting back off topic, what the heck are those giant, red light housings? Some sort of old train or streetcar part that they have re-purposed as a third brake light? J

Jay,

If you are talking about the car I posted, it’s the brake light and when it lights up it says “STOP”.

Ok. What was it’s original application? There’s another one on that green Bus in the earlier photos. I doubt there was a third brake light option on early ‘60s VWs? J
