Question about suitable 6 volt battery

#1 Post by Chris Duerr »

I am searching for a suitable 6 volt battery for an A car. Any recommendations on model number and source?

NAPA,Interstate, Tractor supply all sell 6 Volt. Size is 19L for my C. Other A owners will need to chime in if that is correct for an A. I have one NAPA and One Interstate, both on trickle chargers. Both work fine. Here is another recent discussion: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=45531&hilit=6+volt+battery&start=15 Interstate: https://www.interstatebatteries.com/pro ... oryid=true NAPA: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NBP7217L

Try this Chris. NAPA is also a source. Search for a battery for a 1962 VW beetle as that is the same as the 356.

If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

I have found one from Napa like that but it seems the positive terminal ideally would live out front. Was hoping for a battery with terminals on same side of unit.

Mine has been in the car for a looooooong time. It's potty trained, no piddles. fits diagonally under the cardboard cover and the cover will retain its shape IF you place a thin plate under it that has a short 90* lip at the front. I do not use wet batteries anymore.

Thanks Doug! I am thick.

The realness differences relate to the fake Speedster conversation. Since I believe that Mike's new Speedsters are fakes I had to reflect back to evaluate how real each of my cars are. It's only fair to admit their imperfections. The 911 is all original except one repaint in the original color. We go downhill from there but I wouldn't call any of them fake.

"Sorta real kinda" is my favorite.

That one has replaced floors and reproduction aluminum lids and doors and it was crashed fairly hard at Lime Rock many years ago. The body work was all done very well though. Being a race car it does have a number of "tasteful" modifications.

Despite the realness of each of your mounts you are definitely one of the realest Porsche men on the planet Earth or at least among the real ones I have encountered to date! Thanks for the shocking battery input. I will go forward from here!
