Re: Euro Muffler Support
Wow, thank you each for sharing so much information and going out of your way to post pictures of some very nicely squared away motors.
I checked my set up and found items 18-22 right where they belong along with items 13-16 (picture of their location below attached to the lower stud of the forward exhaust pipe).
Unfortunately no third piece parts nor pre-heat parts. In fact, it seems my heat exchangers are for a 912 as there are no pre-heat ports.
Tom, thanks so much for your offer. The Stoddard swap is next month and Ill be there with my list of parts to hunt. If I come up short I may reach out.

Re: Euro Muffler Support
When I was working on the design for the Euro Heater Full Flow, I borrowed a couple of muffler support stampings from EASY Jim (I think; maybe Alan). But when I got them I thought I'd got a mis-matched set for the same reason you mention. I called which ever guru it supplied them and was assured that they were 'right' and 'right'.Tom Tate wrote:I put a system together a few years ago and found that I only had one of the supports that bolt to the third piece so I took it to my fabricator and had him make another. In my wisdom I asked him to make it a mirror image of the one that I had. It came out perfect but I later found out that the Factory used the same part for both sides. [...]
As it happens, if the right side did not have the flanges arranged toward the center, there was no way to shrink the Full Flow to fit the available space.
So if you want to fit a Full Flow to a Euro-Heater car, thank the factory engineers who saved the customers some money by figuring a way to make the same stamping work on both sides.

Dan,
Can I copy that image to show that the filter DOES fit with the Euro heater system.

Re: Euro Muffler Support
I'm in the process of rebuilding an engine for a customer that has the Euro exhaust system with an aftermarket muffler, he wants everything as it was so looking at this post we have everything but the muffler and the brackets. Muffler no problem but the brackets needed.
Tom Tate, does your offer still stand to have two fabricated? Or any other source?
Thanks,
Rusty

If it's a Dansk I'd hold judgement on the "muffler no problem" part until you've got it together. Can be a joy to put on.Rusty Ferrell wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 12:23 pm I'm in the process of rebuilding an engine for a customer that has the Euro exhaust system with an aftermarket muffler, he wants everything as it was so looking at this post we have everything but the muffler and the brackets. Re: Euro Muffler Support
On the subject of "Euro Heater parts, new parts from Porsche is pretty slim. If you're considering crossing over to a euro heater set up, you'll have a long hunt, especially for the heat exchangers, either 356 or 912 versions -- same with the carb preheat nozzles.
Fortunately, the muffler supports being discussed are available from stock, 616-111-503-01. Not cheap, about $110.

Re: Euro Muffler Support
Brad is understating things. From the factory, the heat exchangers are (two-three years ago) 3300 Euros apiece. At least there are some quality repro's. Think these are Marco's, that Aase imports: https://www.aasesales.com/collections/p ... 00p-110486
Like Brad says, not cheap. and, you really have to hunt for a NOS Leistritz muffler, but it's worth it. Fits, and sounds a little different.

Yup, looks like Aase has a new repro I wasn't aware of. So with a "starter kit" ($10,000) of the heat exchangers, you can next hunt for the muffler -- there is probably one out there -- I know quite a few were mis-ordered as normal B/C versions back in the day.

Re: Euro Muffler Support
I believe the $5000 is for a pair so not such a crazy price. I wonder if they are from the D-word company.

I have a 1965 European SC that I am finishing on with the muffler installed properly. If you would like some pictures let me know. Hopefully the car will be out of her by February 1 2020 al zim

Martin, sorry I missed the fact they are priced as a "pair". Those are obviously very expensive to make from scratch.

Re: Euro Muffler Support
I did find a NOS Leistritz muffler right here in Virginia, with S pipes, but no mounting brackets or clamping bands. Still on the hunt, will check the usual houses.

Re: Euro Muffler Support
Hi Rusty:
I recently purchased the clamping bands ("strap for exhaust silencer" in their terms) for my Euro exhaust from Parts-Wise.com in the Netherlands. P/n 99951203402.
The shipping costs were almost as much as the parts, so you might consider ordering several. They are priced individually and not in pairs. All said and done, they cost about $88 for the pair.
They also picture the muffler bracket (p/n 61611150301GRV) on their site but I'm not sure if they actually have that part. I did not need them.
Back in 2013 I was able to locate the bracket through Sonnen Porsche in Mill Valley California. They had to order them from Germany. Gina in the parts department there was very helpful and actually took the time to look through the catalog and find them. Back then it cost me approximately $82 for a pair.
I hope this will help.
Dennis

Re: Euro Muffler Support
As for the clamp, yes, it is NLA in the Porsche parts system. The original was 999-512-034 02, 163 x 20 For that type of clamp, see photo below.
A similar clamp (not as wide) is a 911 muffler clamp available from several sources, 901-111-015-04 ; it would need to be shortened and welded.

Of course in a MUCH larger diameter.
