Gauges Stuck in Dash
My Gauges will not budge after removing the rear bracketing. The paint on the dash is original, in very good shape, and I'd like to keep it. Any thoughts on how to get these things out?

A little penetrating oil then tap from behind. You can also try adhesive remover like Goo Gone

Or maybe wick Goo Gone or a vinyl dressing around tge rubber gaskets from the front as well.

Twist and wiggle the gauges after soaking in whatever solvent you end up using and they should come loose. It is just the rubber seal bonding to both the gauge and the dash. Just a tedious job to remove them.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

Yes Mike I meant to apply the Goo Gone on front of dash where rubber has bonded to the dash.

Start pressing the gauge out on 1-side (from the rear) to start breaking it loose and use a thin strip--like a .010 shim/blade under the rubber seal
to peel between the rubber seal and dash; Careful not to damage the paint.
Add a light wipe of silicone on the rubber when reinstalling the gauge.

tape the paint around the gauges to help preserve when you pull out and reinstall - b

Re: Gauges Stuck in Dash
Any luck Alan? If not you could try using an oil filter wrench on the body of the gauge behind the dash to torque free the gauge.
