Thank you everybody! After a lot of thought and discussions with many Registry members I have settled on a 1963-1965 for my new daily driver. I made an offer on one, but the PPI was not good so offering on another one tomorrow. Hope this one sticks!

A '62 is the same as a '63. The thing with brake fade (which drums are more susceptible to) is you hit something (have an accident) when otherwise you wouldn't.

Disc brakes are a worthwhile improvement- that's why Porsche and the whole world changed. If you are going to use the car as a daily driver ...

Drum brakes are fine if working properly and adjusted. They have a capacity of absorbing 200% Kinetic energy the vehicle can produce. Disc are better, but the drums brakes are way over engineered for the maximum energy, the horizontal velocity vector, a 356 can produce. Porsche was the only company in the 50s-60s to do the math on the brakes as part of the entire power plant design.

I never had a problem with my 356A drum brakes for the race track, but for all out racing down pikes peak I prefer my 911’s disc brakes!
