Widow crank spring and rubber plug

#1 Post by Ron Dohmeyer »

'59 A coupe , putting inner door parts back after repair, there was no spring so got one and now wondering if the spring is installed with large end positioned towards inside of car or out?. Also there was no "rubber plugs" and questioning there need?
Thanks for the help!

Position the spring so the large diameter will be pushing on the backside of the door panel once everything is installed. The small rubber plugs are to cushion the door handle and provide tension on the pin holding the door handle on the regulator. This cushion prevents rattles of the handles.

there should be a small hole/dimple in the face of the splined shaft of the window regulator and door opening mechanism

Thanks again, I've tried that but doesn't seem long enough to put any back pressure against the handle?
