So now that I have a garage lift, (Best invention since sliced bread) I can find issues, before they become issues. What function does this cable perform?
Can I mark where the point on the threads to put the nut back on in exactly the same spot? Or, is this going to have to be adjusted once removed. The car never see's rain or snow, so I'm not sure how critical this boot's function is? Unless it is also to keep debris away from cable. Thoughts, suggestions, appreciated.
What is this?

Re: What is this?
That would be for the parking brake cable. You can put it back in the same place and it should be OK. If you never get the car wet, it doesn't matter much, but it keeps dirt out too.

Thanks Martin. Why does it just dead end there. How does it function? Where does the cable lead to in the car, all the way to pull handle? Thanks again!!

Re: What is this?
It goes into the tunnel, where it becomes two cables, one to each rear brake.
