Specs for Roadster Windshield Wipers
For a '62, if different than for a T-5. What is the length of the wiper arm and metal blade (which holds the rubber inserts)? Is the same setup used in other models or years? Rumor has it that the information is in A Restorer's Guide to Authenticity, but I can't find my copy.
What is a source for the blades and rubber inserts?

Re: Specs for Roadster Windshield Wipers
Edwin,
According to the T6B parts book, Nachtrag Ersatzteil - Katalog 356B (Supplement to Catalogue of Spare Parts 356B)...
"Windshield wiper spare parts for the Roadster model are to be taken from the spare parts catalog 356 B, Illustration 9/2"
The T5 Roadster and Carrera used SWF windshield wipers, as opposed to Bosch for the other models. So unless someone else presents evidence to the contrary, all T5 and T6 Roadsters used the same SWF wiper parts.
If you'd like to see examples of these, it will take me a little while to measure & photograph some. By the way, the SWF wiper arms are left & right handed.

Jon, if you wouldn't mind, measurements and pictures would be fantastically helpful!

Measurements of what? Arm, blade, stump? T5 Drauz through D'Ieteren body cars use the same wipers.

Re: Specs for Roadster Windshield Wipers
Edwin, here are examples of original T5 Roadster wipers, which the T6B parts supplement indicates were the same for T6 Roadsters.
The blades are 260 mm long, as it says on the box label. The box is stamped with the Porsche part number.
The SWF arms are marked L and R accordingly, under the shepherd's crook. There were also RHD wiper arms for Roadsters, so four different versions.

Re: Specs for Roadster Windshield Wipers
From Brett Johnsons book pg 57 (and my own car), the T5 Roadsters had the SWF 2400 arms and blades fitted. The arms have set screws to hold the blades

Re: Specs for Roadster Windshield Wipers
Jon, John, and Steve, thanks for the assistance! Do the SWF 2400 blades measure 260 mm? You might guess they measure 240mm.

Re: Specs for Roadster Windshield Wipers
Hmmm, 9.25" is very close to 24 cm or 240 mm. However, Jon's box is compelling evidence, if that is the right part number stamped on it.
A 20-mm difference (260 mm - 240 mm) is 0.8". The Roadster windshield is a little shorter.

B. Johnsons book shows a wiper arm with a nut at the end to attach a wiper blade for at T-5 Roadster. Seems to say the same for T-6 Roadster too.

That's not right for a '62 Roadster. Don't know for an earlier one.Steve Kram wrote:B. Johnsons book shows a wiper arm with a nut at the end to attach a wiper blade for at T-5 Roadster. Seems to say the same for T-6 Roadster too.

Yes, that is the correct part number stamped on the box.Edwin Ek wrote:Jon's box is compelling evidence, if that is the right part number stamped on it.
No 356B cars had wiper arms with set screws or nuts to hold the wiper blades.

Re: Specs for Roadster Windshield Wipers
Edwin, I'm certainly open to seeing other convincing evidence on this subject.
The best evidence would probably be detailed photos from the early 60s, because wiper blades were often changed after only a few years from new.
The box & blades in my photo are genuine replacement parts from the 60s.

Re: Specs for Roadster Windshield Wipers
I think the distinction that Dr. Johnson was making was between B cars and B Roadsters.
That is where I got my info.
