Kardex has key number, but what is FE # to the right

#1 Post by Tom Coughlin »

On the Kardex in the box for the ignition key I have K plus number, and to the right it has FE-plus number. I've been unable to find what the FE stands for. Thanks, Tom

Hello Tom,
"FE" is the key profile (Porsche key blank designation); used for late (bronze) gear shift lock. The numbers that follow FE are your key code. "K" is ignition/door lock for cars '57 on.

Thank you. Does the number after the FE give enough information to allow a key to be cut?

The FE number designation is for the gear shift lock. Zim's Autotechnik can cut a key from that number for you gear shift lock. Two keys plus shipping via flat rate box or mailer is $67.50. Usually we can ship in two business days. Factory key blanks are not available. April 3018 al zim Zim's Autotechnik 800.356.2964 Thanks
