I expect that also can be done, I think both styles of seat bases are relatively flat and I see the lever is attached to the track so you don't have to deal with it separately.

Martin Benade wrote:It may be possible to make something like 1/8" thick adaptor pieces to mount T6 lower rails in your car without drilling the car. Countersunk screws going down into the original holes in the car, and short countersunk screws going upward into the T6 rails, short with nuts in the bottom of the track.
Martin's suggestion is a good one and could be worth looking into as well if the seat pan thing doesn't work out, Mark! Not a "slide in, slide out" swap between seat sets if that's something you're looking for but could work well and be reversible.

I want to find out if a bit of welding may be enough to solve this problem. I haven't looked at T6 seat bases myself but I just can't believe it would be that difficult!

So I am told that the T6 bases are different enough that a lot of work would be required to make them work on T5 base rails. Not really a workable solution.

Thanks for all of the useful comments. I have located T5 bases and will go the easy route!

The seat tracks are no where near the same.

You can't just Swap seats from a T6 to a T5. They are not even close to "intrershangeable". One would have to weld in mounts for the T6 seat stands among other atrocious modifications before even getting close to using a T6 seat in a T5 or T2. I've seen plenty of T2/T5 cars with T6 seats and never have seen it done satisfactorily.

Yeah, I got that, Jim. My own shop said the same thing. They were able to come up with T5 seat bases and backs so I don't need to make this a bigger project.

Thanks all.
