356 Horn Restoration......Recommendation

#1 Post by Bob DiCorpo »

I recently had the horns restored on my 1956 356A by Julian Hardy of Georgia/ Florida. I was so impressed with his work, I felt I should share the results with other 356 owners. The horns are perfect. He also replaced all of the attachment hardware My only regret is that they are not mounted in a more prominent spot on the car where they would really be seen. Thank you Julian for the beautiful work and for being such a really super guy to do business with. Bob

++1 on Julian. Did mine too. Great job and a real gentleman with whom to work.

Also supplies period correct 12 volt Bosch horns, for your 12 volt car (allows both tones to be heard), or for your period Mercedes. Highly recommended.

Julian did the horns on my 56 Carrera as well - after I had assembled them wrong...
They remind me every time I bump the horn ring by accident when the key is switched on - they work really well now.

I tried to repair the original on my '53. Big mistake as it's more art than science. I didn't want it restored, just repaired, as the car is a survivor and Julian did just as asked and did it quickly. Kudos to Julian.

Wish he was local to me. I had a couple of defunct horns. With sustained assistance from Mick Temple and some old rusty horns I was given to part out to replace the points and capacitor on my existing ones, I managed to rebuild both to perfect working order. It is quite a big job, but I am stubborn ...
