Not sure what is up with that craigslist ad but I think the site it originates from pulls cars from old ebay and ad listings and puts them here.

I'd have to go with the 2 piece example so as not to be tempted to restore it!

Besides $49K for a pile of rust would be ludicrous.

BHCC is remarkably good about showing what they are selling. They made no attempt to disguise how bad that car is.

I'm gonna call bull on that, here is a perfect example.

Bought a flood car, salt water flood, they go to sell it and no mention of flood.

I am no supporter of them, if they knew about flood damage and said nothing, that's not OK. From looking at their pictures, I imagine buyer's remorse is quite common among their customers although I am not sure which party would be to blame.

You need to build a barn and put them in it so people who buy them can claim it was a barn find. :)

A friend did that. He bought about a dozen cars from me over the years, real rough stuff. He put them all on a barn in NorCal. In 20 years it will be a California Barn Find like no other!

It's his son's barn, and his son is my age. I think it was a long term retirement plan for the son. He gets the fun part, who doesn't like buying Porsches? His son gets to sell them off in 20 years, that will be fun too.

it's been on the Samba for at least 6 months with no takers. Must have some kind of hidden accident damage or something else wrong with it.

That "car" spent some time in my shop. I got it as a joke and kept it here for a couple of weeks for laughs. It did have a very nice dash grab handle, which looked totally out of place. I sold the grab handle and threw in the rest of the car for free. Needless to say, the current seller has marked it up a bit and the handle is no longer on the car.

Ciao
