What is this thing on the right of my fan shroud? Would it have been original?

It's a block off plate for the "snorkle" for a European engine shroud.

Should I have one on my car? It was originally shipped to Georgia.

Do you have the big heater exchanger boxes and a blocked duct on the left side by the cab heater horn?

Too late to check the heater exchangers but, both horns are blocked with caps.

The horns #11 are to heat the carbs, Controled by the thermostat #15 through the rods and valves #21. They blow warm air on the carbs to make cold operations smoother after start up.

Yours were probably blocked by some previous owner. In the winter they actually work pretty well if adjusted properly.

He has a Euro heater shroud that's been modified to close off the snorkel. No thermostat on the Euro's.

That's wild. Would my Georgia car might have shipped with a Euro shroud setup orginally?

Do you have the Kardex or C.O.A. for your car to determine if the engine is original to the car?

This was sent to me some time back to help ID Euro heater systems; it's a Euro-spec S-90 or and SC judging by the manifolds: Oh, and there's a big black hose that goes from here to there when you're done:

Also, An original Euro heat equipped engine would have a serial # starting w/611001 thru 611200,706001-707200, 807001-807400,
730001-731102, 731103-733027, 820523-821701, 733028-733197, and finally 821702-821855.

Dick's data will tell you if you have a Euro-spec engine that's missing parts or a US-spec engine that ended up with some random tin.
But I can tell you that your original image has a vent hose and hose clamp that are correct.

And a generator pulley that was tightened by using the wrong screwdriver in the slot to hold it.

And, if I had to guess, a nut that was way over-torqued......

731 511 looks to be my engine number. So, from the looks of it my car was shipped to a dealer in Georgia with a Euri heater. Now, brighten my day by telling me my car is a SC!
