I had a Bentley MK VI for nearly twenty years, bought it for £10,750, spent about £100,000 on it and sold it for £32,500 and A year later I’m still waiting for the last £1500.
In that time the currency has devalued too, but we toured France and much of the UK, we married off the kids in it and it was part of the family. I loved it, but don’t want it back.
Since I sold the Bentley I’ve had a succession of Brit sports cars and a Bristol, sort of got my money back on the ones I’ve sold and I’ve kept a Healey and a 356C, which is my favourite.
I bought the Porsche well, but I’ve spent lots of money on it and intend using it, which costs more, so whilst I hope to lose less on it, assuming I live long enough to benefit from the sale, I’m not expecting miracles, only fun because it’s a hell of a nice car.

You say that but if £80k is nothing to you then we are different financial circles.

I bought my 356B 39 years ago for a few hundred dollars. I don't have a lot of money but it is easy to resist the temptation to sell my car, I really like it. It's not about money.

I bought my B T5 coupe two and a half years ago and it was recently insurance valued at 150% more than I paid for it but when people ask me what it's worth I tell them it's worth nothing as it's not for sale.
I will never sell it, i'm in love with the car, when I die my wife can do what she likes with it but it will give her a good pension if she sells it.
