356B/C Hard Top on BAT

#1 Post by Sebastian Gaeta »

A 356B/C removable hard top just sold on Bring a Trailer for $6,000

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1961- ... /#comments

Probably the highest price ever paid for one. Just amazing that even the least knowledgeable person would not do some due diligence and see that they go unsold on eBay all the time for under a $2,000 asking price. I bought mine about 4 years ago in much better shape for $900 and that was fair market in my opinion.

Yup, that would command probably higher actually because those are rare. The commenters there were under the impression that this one was rare. I kept my thoughts to myself because I never imagined it would go this high.

On one hand do you ruin a seller's deal, save an unsuspecting buyer from paying too much or just stay out of it?

If hardtops were only worth $$$....

They sell so slowly we don't even keep them on site, this is my storage unit down the street.

With the back to back Nor'Easter's we've had I should probably just have a sled tournament in my backyard.

A poster on there just claimed he would pay $10,000 or $11,000 for one. This just blows my mind, if they only knew.

Gotta say I've passed up on a couple at less than half that price, similar condition, and he'll need the rear inside panels, too.

Al,

Sounds like a great event. Did any of them have hard tops?

"...356B/C removable hard top(s)" are terrific soft powder sleds. Might be an Olympic event one day.
