Sebring 2018 Vintage Race Report
Spoiler... Super Vic dominated the 356 contingent. Northwest Terror Mike Zubco gave it a valiant effort in his yellow Roadster. Marcus Pillion of lacrosse fame brought his youthful enthusiasm and black T-5 Coupe. Cheesehead Bob Van Zeist commanded a blue Speedster. California Mike Taradash rented an A Coupe from Super Vic to have his first race weekend in a 356, something totally different from his Lotus 7 racer(for sale). Insurance salesman Ford Heacock, the founder of SVRA 40 years ago, brought his red 3EP Coupe. So 6 of the 9 3CP cars were 356s. Add the 3EP 356 and 7 of the 26 cars were 356s.
Sometimes SVRA combines us with the group 4 solid axle Vettes and V8 specials like Devins. This can be very frustrating due to the difference in the car characteristics. They rocket down the straights and tiptoe through the corners, we don't. FYI the #2 Jag coupe is a replica of the factory aluminum bodied race cars, not cheap!
The 3CP winner was a Ginetta weighing 1000 pounds with 1500cc which is a bit much of an advantage over our 356s.
Below are posted the results and the race videos from my car for your entertainment. If you have the desire come give racing a try. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OM6hSMtXyTQ&t=310s

Too much to list. I actually have run as high as 9000(by mistake) and run 7500-8000 regularly. I think at the end of the Sunday race you can see nearly 9000 before the last turn.

Hi Cliff
Many thanks for posting these. Sebring always seems to have lovely weather. That large low down glare from the sun must be difficult. Who was the guy who blocked you in? Losing your place again to the cream speedster! love the over revving demo of the Scat crankshaft's ability. Where does Vic go? Home for his dinner?
You start together then he is not seen again !
Great action
Cheers Jay.

Re: Sebring 2018 Vintage Race Report
Hi Jay,
Vic likes to have a beer after the racing. He must REALLY like beer because he doesn't hang around long after the green flag drops. The open car that was slow in the corners is a Devin bodied Austin Healey powered by a Chevrolet small block V8. I think he could get it to handle better than that and his lines are not so good but maybe he is afraid to use the whole track because he isn't sure which way the car is going. He spun in front of me twice during the weekend. The red Devin SS only spun once. I hope my Devin D handles better than that.
My British friends Bill and Anita Stephens and Dave Pettengell attended and all liked the Florida weather too.

Cliff, if you keep the total displacement, are you allowed to alter the B/S ratio?

Re: Sebring 2018 Vintage Race Report
We have to keep the stock stroke and are allowed a maximum of 1mm larger than stock bore which totals 1622cc.

That's what I was thinking when Ron posted that! Very astute Greg.Greg Bryan wrote:In racing, isn't the B/S ratio consistently high?

Yeah, but it seems to get lower once the flag drops.Greg Bryan wrote:In racing, isn't the B/S ratio consistently high?
