I might have one, but are you sure it will fit your T5? I thought they had a different shift rod going forward to the shifter.

Sorry Mark,

The coupler's part # is for the whole coupling including the bushings and the cross-pin clevis per the BT6 (supplement) parts book.
Since the bushings usually fall apart, they were being made from the usual soft material until the delrin or nylon material took over.
The part you're asking for has the longer plain shaft used in the 356; the shorter version is for the 900 series and has serrations
on the shaft for a non-slip grip. The rest of the parts are the same in either couplinmg. I'll look in my archives, but they'll show
up in swap meets.

Hi Martin. Good question. My coupler is a donor from a late T5 or 356BT6, 356C. It has the longer shaft. The "pin" has a serration at the center but its warn and there's no resistance to keep it from sliding out from the bushings. The bushings are essentially holding the pin in place.

Hi Dick. The pin itself a least on serration at the center (or so it seems) but its worn and the pin has not resistance when sliding into the hole in the shaft. Essentially the new bushings are the only thing holding the pin in place. Hope this makes sense.

Bob,

Every time I think,I'm finished along comes something else.

It looks like a nicely engineered piece.

Have you considered Red Loctite?

If it isn't very loose, the red loctite sounds like a pretty good solution. As for the fancy new coupling, I imagine there is little difference between how well that or an healthy OE coupling works. Either one will get the job done, and it will never shift like an MG.

Marc, the interference is only between 2 & 3.
Does the pin slide through the pin? Will be loose at the bushings.

Just barely increase the chiseled notch in the pin; The pin should be a near press-fit to the shaft's hole and it's really retained,
but not w/the bushings.

Mark,

My 1st message referred to the piece for the cross-pin fitment; I haven't seen pins worn from the bushings.

Stomski makes a large variety of substitution parts and shop tools. My experience is that they are all well thought out and excel at the job they are intended for. During the recent LA Lit. Meet and Shop tours, one of my travel companions - who has an independent shop - was looking for advice on a tool to get for a job he has underway. During the stop at Callas Rennsport he asked one the technicians what he used for that job. The tech took him to his tool chest where he showed him the Stomski tool specifically designed for the job and note that's what they used at that shop.
