Gerard, I ran the extra wire tucked in behind the original loom. You'd need a keen eye to spot it. Not a difficult job with a jack and stands.
I also have a Sebring style exhaust, and sourced another pair of front overrides and fitted these to the back.
See attached photo, for lenses and overrides.

Mike, thanks for the heads up on a vendor with the reversed lens. I do not think a vendor in the U.S. has them:
https://www.tfsporsche.com/product-cate ... rics-356b/
just ordered two sets today.

for a base already wired to accept the 1157 BAY15D bulb, Sierra Madre sells a cheap repro for those who don't want to sweat one into an old base:
http://www.sierramadrecollection.com/35 ... 17865.html

For those guys in the U.S., these two, plus some wiring give you a rear light with a dual red circuit (Park low light Red/ bright Red Brake) located on the outside edge of the car, and a yellow blinker to the inside, as preferred by many jurisdictions. Am wiring up mine now.

On my 63 Karmann Coupe, the spare wire was located taped to the wiring harness in the back, almost to the rear center. The bullet was barely visible. The wire separated from the main loom just after exiting to the rear of the car, but was taped to the main loom. On a friends Reutter coupe, the spare cable was rolled up in the engine compartment, right after the loom entered the compartment to the right rear, down in the back. I don't know how early the cars were provided with the spare cable. The cable starts at the connector behind the tach. There are 4 inputs and 5 outputs on the connector. The spare is the line to the car's rear.

It is interesting to note the differences between Marc's reversed lenses and our stock Australian ones in the 60's (earlier post) with the yellow portion on the outside. On the original Australian fitment the base was also different from the US, as Brad Ripley noted elsewhere, generally keeping the hot bulb away from the lens. However, if using US bases and rewiring the bulb holders, then the swapped lens that Mike so effectively produces, seems the easier choice.

For Australian owners, used, original bases and lenses are available from some sources here, I believe.

Joe prefers not to do retail anymore. I sell both his manuals and relays for him. Please be aware that there is sometimes a delay when an order is made, even though I try to keep them in stock.

Mike, I have contacted my source in Melbourne and he has a number of original Australian bases and lenses. Greg will contact you by phone or email soon. I gave him your details off the website. I will send his phone number to you by email.

Cheers

For those interested in the lenses I fitted to my car in the photo above, they are a stocked item, by Autoatlanta. Impossible to find on their website by browsing, but easy if you have the part numbers.
G64463142105 for left
G64463142205 for right

They were actually genuine Porsche replacement parts when they arrived, and remarkably reasonably priced.

I just checked their site, and the left are showing in stock, but the right are showing as discontinued. When I enquired previously, they were both showing as discontinued, but they got them back in stock within weeks, following my request.

Might be worth an email or phone call?
