Hi everyone. I am basically after a list of the parts I need to put a pair of speedster (or GT) seats in my T5 Coupe.
I basically want to slide my existing coupe seats out and slide these others in.
I still want to be able to access my back seat. So will need them to flip forward.
I find a lot of the parts available confusing, and do not want to buy parts I do not need.
I also do not want to drill new holes in my car, so do not really want to replace the whole seat slider assembly, unless necessary.
In everyone's experience, besides weight and price, for a street driven car, what are the differences in buying fibreglass, steel and aluminium seats? I am planning to fully upholster the seats.
Any help/advice greatly received.

Re: Speedster/GT Seat FAQ
Marc:
I recently fitted a set of fibreglass GT seats I got from Russ at Fibersteel into my T5 coupe. Included were the seat rails and they hinge forward. Pretty much a plug and play situation. The quality of the seats is very nice.
I am not thrilled with the quality of the repro seat slider parts. While they fit on, they are loose and the seats have the annoying tendency to "clonk" about on cornering. I plan to get my head into why that is, perhaps I need to adjust the sliders. Also, the seats ended up being a bit higher off the floor than expected. Not a serious flaw, but would like to draw these things to your attention.
If I had to do it over again, I might order the Steel seats from Zims, and go my own way on the upholstery.

Re: Speedster/GT Seat FAQ
Zim's Autotechnik has probably sold more steel and aluminum speedster seats than anyone in the USA. Over the years these seats have continually improved Our latest sets of seats have improved reinforcement and are coated with a micro thin metal coating to resist rust. The aluminum seats are assembled with coated steel for the reinforcements that are held in place by copper rivets similar to the way it was done 60 years ago. www.allzim.com you can see pictures of them on our web site. al zim

Re: Speedster/GT Seat FAQ
Here are some picture of all the parts you need. I bought them from fibersteel in LA. The quality excellent. The console is availlable in alloy or steel. The seat rails are from the original comfort seat. New ones you can buy from a guy called anthony in hungary. Go to ebay germany and search for ´Sitzschienen 356 and you will find him
