Under Fender Finish

#1 Post by Bill Lawless »

Hi All,
What's you favorite under fender and under floor pan finish..
-rust encapsulate primer, undercoat.
-POR 15 brushed or sprayed

I'm not sure if I want to undercoat although it does hide stuff...

One more ? while I'm here, is the finish under the hood, 65' C, supposed to be smooth or textured like painted undercoating.

thanks much,
Bill
 Thanks,
Bill

If the underside of the fenders is not undercoated then you should be prepared to repaint the exterior sooner because of 'stars' in the paint. Thickly undercoated is better than thinly. GT cars weren't undercoated but they are (were) race cars and lighter is better.

My 65' C was built by Karmann, It did have a textured finish but hard to tell if original or added later..

Sounds like textured under hood is how I'll go...
Thanks all..
 Thanks,
Bill
