I purchased the Winterburn CDI recently and am looking forward to installing it soon.
Fred and I have been looking for a no-resistor rotor for my 022 unsuccessfully, including Aircooled.net. Fred has shared the instructions for the modification but I would prefer to purchase.
Anyone have a source for a no-resistor rotor for an 022?
Thanks.

Re: No-Resistor Rotor 022 Distributor
I got one for my BR18 from Glenn Ring for fitment when installing Fred's CDI. I also made one up following this: http://www.huelsmann.us/bugman/RotorTech.html

Thanks Merv. I'll contact Glenn.
Push to shove, I'll do the mod.

Re: No-Resistor Rotor 022 Distributor
Get a Bosch 04038 which measures about 1.1 ohms.
See my discussion with Fred Winterburn last year:
From Fred Sun, Aug 13, 2017 at 2:24 PM:
Bob, It looks good. 1 ohm to 30,000 volts is essentially the same as 0 ohms. Good find. I'm looking forward to seeing how your road test goes. Fred
Bob to Fred Sun, Aug 13, 2017 at 2:02 PM:
Fred,
Installed the ignition this morning. Car starts and runs but I haven’t road tested it yet. It was a pretty basic installation. I found a later model VW rotor for cars with CD ignition, 1 ohm resistance, Bosch part no.: 04038. Would that be a low enough resistance for the CD ignition?
Thanks,
Bob

Re: No-Resistor Rotor 022 Distributor
Bob, Except that you are running with a 123 distributor are you not? I am no expert on what rotor fits what, but I think the Bosch 022 uses a different rotor. I don't know if Glenn Ring has been following this thread or the previous one on this topic, but he will know what is available for the 022 without a resistor. I think I'll PM Glenn about parts availability through him for the 022. Fred

Re: No-Resistor Rotor 022 Distributor
So, Glenn Ring got back to me right away. Aircooled.net does sell the right rotor as it must cross to the 022. John must have been unaware that the rotor Glenn mentions will fit the 022 distributor. Read part of Glenn's message to me below. The rotor that should work is aircooled.net modified 04 008 rotor. Fred
"John Conolly @ Aircooled.net sells a modified Bosch 04 008 rotor where he removed the resistor, installed a copper wire and then covers it in epoxy. This provides at straight connection from the center to the cylinder contacts. I told both customers that they should buy a few from him since who knows if he'll stop making them again."

Re: No-Resistor Rotor 022 Distributor
Thank you Merv, Bob, Fred, and Glenn.
Looks like the Aircooled.net 04-008 will work. Order going in this evening.
Thanks again.
Ron

Re: No-Resistor Rotor 022 Distributor
Oops, I left that out, I am running the 123 distributor with Fred Winterburn's CD module, a sweet set up. Sorry for the omission. Thanks for noting that.
