I am looking for the article on identifying ignition distributors. I could not locate it using the search feature.
Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?
I have several distributors and want to ID them by their numbers.

Ed:
I can't tell you what you are doing wrong, but the article that you are probably referring to is by Jon Bunin in vol. 29, issue 5, page 24. It is a great article describing all the 356 distributors.
KTF,
Steve

Re: aritcle on Distributor identification
Here's a table listing types and applications.
Distributor Model Application
VE 4 BRS 383 (or 383) Pre-A 356 through 1955, some VWs and industrial engines
VJ 4 BR9 (or BR9) 356A in 1956 and 1957, rarer because of use limited to Porsches
VJ 4 BR 18 (or BR18) 356A from late 1957 and all 356B engines
0 231 129 022 (or 022) 356C, SC and 912 through 1967
0 231 129 031 (or 031) 031 replaced the 022 in 1968; the 061 was used in 1968-69 912s
9 230 081 050 (or 050) A later alternative replacement and Harry Pellow's favorite
I also put some tech. specs. for them on my web site, http://www.sparkingplugs.com/4.html

Re: aritcle on Distributor identification
Bruce, Sorry I didn't mention you as one of the prime resources for Ed's question. Knowing Ed Anspach and his collection of all sorts of 'furrin cars and parts, he has probably hundreds of distributors including Porsche, VW and others to research.
