They are using laser melt sintered bed printing to directly print metal parts. The example given is a 959 clutch release fork. Says they currently have 8 parts they print, with 20 more on the way.
I can see this being a real boon for the older race cars as well as 4 cam cars. Capricorn currently quotes 15,600 euros for a single bare 2 liter 4 cam head and Freisinger quotes 15,000 euros for a single NOS 904/906 rear suspension upright. Hopefully 3D printing will help make prices more reasonable.
I wonder if the $3,600 CNC machining cost for the push rod 90 degree twin distributor V drive could be reduced?
