Some advice please.
I have 644 transmission with an oil leak from a bolt below the throw out bearing in the bell housing. See attached photos.
What is this bolt securing inside the transmission? Can I remove it (without calamity) to apply some sealant to fix the leak?
I can not find any details or info about the bolt in manuals or parts lists.
I would appreciate any informed advice and recommendations?

DON'T REMOVE IT! It holds the oil deflector. Smear something externally and leave it alone unless you want to pull the differential.
And don't forget to install the starter bushing; unless you are using one of the high-torque starters that does not need the bushing.

I will try the external sealant option.

The late Mike Robbins suggested using Permatex's Stop Leak--a 4-oz. blue & white can; Available in auto supply shops/FLAPS.
It's a spray-able silicone which 'kinda' coagulates w/residual oil leaks--especially on transmission side plates.
You must clean off the area as best as possible and it may take more than 1-spray; I've used it for years and it works..

Apply some wicking grade green Loctite 290 to that bolt head and copper washer. Let dry 24 hours, then glob some external sealant on it. As Vic mentioned, don't mess with the bolt. Even trying to tighten some will cause you problems. The oil deflector held in by that bolt will move and likely make contact with your main shaft.
