I bought this outer bushing for my 356 b T6 1962 springplate , the inner diameter is 45mm but the springplate diameter is 48mm?
what to do? press it on or what?

is it the correct bushing?

It's correct if you have a VW. The Porsche rubber bushing looks very similar -- is Porsche number 644-333-131-01

my problem is how to fit it...? as the inner diameter is 45mm and the torsion bar tube is 48mm.. can the rubber extend so much? put it in hot water before + a lot of grease or?

Sometimes you can not go in a straight line. Sometimes you have to explore various vendors and learn their strengths and weaknesses. You can always give away the parts substitution VW parts at a swap meet. As I recall when we replaced those bushings the parts went into place with no complaint despite the fact that we built up the formerly rusty surface of the spring plate pivot with epoxy to render it smooth.

Hi Robert, Thanks for your input, my simple questions is though if anyone/you know if the inner diameter of the "vw" bushing 45mm is the same as the porsche bushing??

The vendor tells me that the porsche bushing is excactly the same as the vw part, which leeds me to question 2, is it normal that the bushing needs to extend from 45 to 48 to fit the pivot?

as in the F model 911 from 1969-73 you have to glue the bushings..... so perhaps my part NEEDs to extend to hold on tight?
any bushings experts that can shime in here.. :-)

I just recently redid mine and it didn't need to stretch 3mm to fit, it slid on fairly easily. I also don't recall glueing on the bushings on my 1970.

Brad said you have the wrong part.He has over 40 years experience in Porsche Parts including having owned NLA. End of story. Get the correct part and it will work.

Depending on your spring plate cover you may indeed want these. http://www.stoddard.com/64433313100.html If you look at the pictures in Franny's write up you will see that she has the earlier non ribbed spring plate cover. What you have will determine what you need. If you look at the notes Stoddard has for this product it says you need 4 of these unless you have updated to the later ribbed cover.

Lars Your other option is to get the Willhoit set that are 20% stiffer than stock. Smooth inner and ribbed outer as you would need for T6: http://willhoit-auto-restoration.mybigc ... -bushings/
