Clutch Pedal Stop

#1 Post by John Clarke »

Hi All
Our 61 T5B Coupe is missing the stop bracket to stop over travel of the Clutch pressure plate and stressing the diaphragm springs. I always try to be careful with the gear changes and sometimes get the occasional crunching when I don't dip it enough!
Anyone have a picture of this and where should it be set? I will try and make one if not available.
Thanks
Forgot to mention we have the 200 mm clutch with larger flywheel to match the 912 engine installed .

Try Adam he probably has a lot of them! Press down on the clutch pedal to the point where the clutch releases. Adjust the stop so the pedal stops at that point or just a shade past.

You want to adjust the stop so that you can JUST get into reverse without grinding.

John,

The pedal stop & hardware is listed on page 55 of Stoddard's catalog, Item 1; Use larger flat washers to prevent 'sinking' into the rubber.
Be sure to adjust the stop AFTER the engine and transmission are fully warmed up and can get into reverse w/o clashing.
Adjust the clutch cable for top clearance, but being tall, I like the release closer to the floor & added a block to reduce the free play.

Dick
