Hello Matthew,
You are correct Camaros, Goats, rusted out 356s, it dont really matter all the little crap ends up to be a big ticket item for sure. It did surprise me that replacement metal for 356s is not that bad for price.

If you are going to do it yourself expect to spend double the time you think it might take. Brace the car well before you start taking off parts, and DON'T cut off anything until you have the replacement panels. Do one section at a time. don't jump from one section to the other if you don't have the panels. Level the car on a semi-permanent fixture, from front to back, corner to corner. Use datum lines which can be found in the workshop manuals. Building a rotisserie is very helpful for welding on the underside of the car, nothing worse than trying to weld something upside down laying on your back.
when you get frustrated walk away and give the car a break for a day or 2. You always seem to get a different perspective of how to tackle something when you give it a break.
