Anyone know Robin Hansen? I'm told he was one of the original founders of PCA.

He is not identified by PCA as one of the 12 people in attendance at the first business meeting on September 13, 1955, at Blackie's House of Beef in Washington, D.C.

But not ever a member of the 356 Registry?

Chuck

Edit: Seems he was in 2008/2009. He was a big Porsche guy. Buried in Arlington with a parade of Porsches behind him. The son of the doctor (who originally owned my 356 when it was new) told me his uncle was an originating member of PCA and influenced his father to buy the car.

Thanks for posting that Brad. Maybe you could write a few words about his connection to Porsche cars?

One of the best aspects of 356 ownership is the association with the very substantial people who have been attracted to these cars. Many original owners were war veterans with great accomplishments as well as artistic people and top athletes. Our interesting little cars have always attracted interesting owners and always will.

I once sold a B Cab to a guy who was I think 32nd in the line for the Presidency. He's on here, maybe he will chime in.

Thank you so much for writing and supplying that memorial, Chuck.

In my quest for learning the history of my 356, I contacted the original owner's son, George. He told me about his father's love of the car and related that his brother-in-law (Robin Hansen) had influenced him to buy it. He related that Robin was even a greater zealot of Porsches than his father and that they had recently buried him at Arlington National Cemetery. I thought he might be known by a few of you and thank you again Chuck and Brad for providing the information.
George Liebes lives close to here and I hope to enjoy reuniting him with a ride in his father's first Porsche which, as a pediatrician, used to travel from house to house caring for sick kids.

It's nice to learn more about the original owner and his family.

Robin contributed much to this club and to say that that he lead an amazing life would be a bit of an understatement. I got to meet Robin once but at the time was not aware that I was in the presence of such a great and accomplished man.

He published an autobiography in 2001 titled: "Recollections of Life and WWII".
There are two copies on Amazon right now. I was lent a copy of this book but after reading it was compelled to possess my own copy. It now resides on the shelf among my Porsche books.

Chuck,

Robin was my grandfather. I am sure George will be delighted to go for a ride in his father’s 356.

Also, thanks to everyone for honoring his memory here, and special thanks to those who were able to attend his funeral.
