Those knockoff drums and spinners look pretty sweet just sitting there.

Nope, we've entered the Doldrums of endless sanding and final shaping. I was there last week, lots of progress, but it gets a lot less dramatic as time goes on.robert e gwaltney wrote:Adam, do we have paint yet?

Re: Off to the paint shop!
I think you'll find the filler is a very thin coat, and he did the best he could with a lot of the really old warped welding. Damn you guys in the 80s with your gas welders!Martin Benade wrote:That's a disgrace, Adam, it has as much filler on it as my car!

Re: Off to the paint shop!
You are right. In 1978 I gas-welded the original front and rear clips back onto my car after an idiot had cut them off with a torch. I did not do it a cleanly as shown in "Made by Hand".

Gas welding can be ok but not brazing. That is the worst.

I agree. And gas welding by the pros at Reutter was more than OK.

Re: Off to the paint shop!
Panel fitting and edging. Considering the amount of bondo that was on the rockers and around the decklid, I'm very happy with the panel fitting. I bet the car will be lighter too!
