Make sure you use lead to even it out, as we are always told, bondo apparently isn't as good and doesn't last.

The body is now almost completely bare and not a dot of rust has been found. Much of the welding was pretty bad, but that's way more fixable than rust. Brandon will be working on tightening up the door gaps and other lines over the next few days. This is getting fun.

Steady progress on the car, starting the metal panishing and finishing now. Not one dot of rust has been found, very lucky.

Did you put a good sealant on the screws before you screwed the brake fluid reservoir onto the fuel tank? Body is looking good!

I would guess it is riveted to the gas tank strap

Sometimes those jokes hit a nerve. I traded work with a fellow to paint my '65 Galaxy vert. Glowing white with a red interior my kids called it the "Boss Hogg" car (that sort of dates it). With a great sense of pride we drove to town and gassed up only to have someone nearby tell me that I was gushing fuel from under the car. I dashed home to explore and found that he's put a patch in the trunk floor using pop rivets and had drilled into the tank. Amazing how much fuel drains through a 1/8 inch hole.

The bumpers are now naked, still no rust. Rarely have I been surprised like this when stripping a car.

Jules, that is an absolutely awful idea.

The metal work is on the home stretch, just cleaning up the sins of the last "restoration".

A little gallows body shop humor. Brandon texted me these pics today, said the flares were fitting nicely.

Excellent idea to put that notice on the windshield!
About ten years ago, I stripped down an elderly friend's '64 cab...car had less than 50,000 miles. I removed all the trim, except for the windshield, since the body shop was scheduled to pick the car up on a Wednsday. I arrived Tuesday to remove the glass and found the shop had taken the car away a day early. Next thing we heard is that they broke the perfect, original windshield because they were trying to save the rubber seal! Same people also broke the replacement windshield they tried to fit.
