Does anyone use Galvalume body parts in their restorations?

Re: Galvalume Parts
Isn't that what Restoration Design coats their metal in?

Re: Galvalume Parts
Galvalume is a trademark owned by BIEC International and is 55% Aluminum-Zinc alloy coated sheet steel. It is normally used for sheet roofing and some automotive applications.
Restoration Design uses what they call Gavanneal steel which a pure zinc hot process over steel sheet when is then annealed in a furnace causing the zinc and iron in the steel to form a surface coating. .1 percent alum is in the annealing bath which bonds the coating to the steel sheet. This type of steel sheet is commonly used for automotive sheet metal.
Another is Zincrometal is a zinc-chromium alloy and a topcoat of a weld-able zinc-rich primer. It's similar to above Gavanneal and applied by several different patented processes.

Re: Galvalume Parts
Thanks, guys. I thought perhaps Restoration Design used it but good to know it uses something similar.

Re: Galvalume Parts
Restoration Design uses pre-coated metal. We do not coat it ourselves. It is galvaneal, which is widely used in the new car production, by the big 3. 99 % of our steel comes from the USA

Re: Galvalume Parts
Congratulations Mike and crew! Great stuff to keep more on the road. I wonder if Porsche uses it in its new cars or has another process.

Re: Galvalume Parts
"E-Coat" is not part of the sheet of steel as the other processes mentioned above. It is as a cross between plating and painting, where a metal part is immersed in a water-based solution containing a paint emulsion. An electric voltage is applied to the part causing the paint emulsion to condense onto the part.

Re: Galvalume Parts
So is Porsche not using e-coat in their new car production. If not what process are they using.

Re: Galvalume Parts
Probably galvanizing or something similar followed by e-coat.
