Searching for RHD 356S90 112068

#1 Post by Ian Gunney »

Hi all,

am a long time Registry member from the UK - am searching for my fathers old RHD '60 T5 coupe S90 - Chassis no 112068 - UK reg 8757CR.

I know it's a long shot but have been trying for the past 20 years to locate my dads old 356 here in the UK but so far no luck. My dad sold it around 1980 (and regretted it ever since!) when it was in really good condition so am hopeful that it has survived. Thought I'd try a post here, just incase.

I've tried all the 356 people here in the UK but any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian, You've tried Mike Smith haven't you ? Tried PCGB ? DDK ? Tony Standen or Chris Turner may have known, but sadly they are no longer with us. Does Mike know of anyone else around at the time your Dad sold it, apart from Tony, who was a 356er ? Is it worthwhile asking Dalwyn Mallet ? Can you give us any details on the car. Colour ? Upholstery colour ? Any options ? Sometimes someone may know about a 'Green' Super 90, for instance, but have no idea of the Chassis number. How was it sold ? Exchange and Mart ? Through the Porsche club magazine ? Do you have a photo ? I think the more details you can give us the better your chances. You'll find RHD cars here in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and even Singapore and Japan. RHD cars leave Australia, but I also know of 356's that have been imported. There are RHD cars in the U.S. but I'd imagine if it's not in the U.K. somewhere, chances are It could be in another RHD country. But I could be wrong. Rust killed off a number of them in the U.K. for sure, but if it was still in good condition in 1980 then hopefully it's still around. I'll make a few enquiries, but I think more details will help, if you're able to give us anything. Don't give up. Good luck, jim

As Jim suggests, Mike Smith or Hendrik Moulds in the UK are your contacts, best via DDK.

Hello Ian

It's never been on The Australian Porsche 356 Register.

Slim chance that it's hiding down under.

Good luck with your search.

Regards
David

Thanks for the replies - yes, have tried Mike and Hendrik (Mike was able to confirm the chassis number from the AFN records).

I'll keep looking as I am convinced it will turn up at some point....

Thanks for confirming that it's not on the Australian register David.
