#1 Post by Charles H Jacobus »

I don't see any alignment specs when I searched the forum for a 356C. Did I miss something

Factory workshop manual Group "W" Wheel alignment has all the information you need. If you do not have a manual PM me I may be able to help.
If I had known I would live this long I would have pushed the envelope a little harder.

Most shops will not properly align your 356. The car MUST be aligned on a rack that does rolling compensation. Once the car is lifted off the rack, the suspension assumes a different position when the car is lowered, thus it cannot be aligned. We have been using the Hunter Elite system which give excellent results. Having to unbolt and move each of the rear wheels while the car is on the alignment rack is a time consuming process. Each has to be done individually. Setting the camber on the front wheels requires the disassembly of the brakes and the removal of the spindle. If you are having your car put together be sure to have your spindle, "c" carrier (for the link pins) and the trailing arms check to make sure they are in tolerance. Usually 33% of the right trailing arms we check are bent from hitting a curb. Small bends can sometimes be straightened, but usually they need to be replaced. The caster on the car is set at the factory and cannot be adjusted. It is probably a good idea to replace both the tie rods and the steering damper. If you have questions call me 800.356.2964. al zim
