Hardware overview, excel?

#1 Post by Joris Koning »

Has anybody out there ever made a spreadsheet of the hardware used in our cars? So DIN spec, size and quantity used? Working on a project and this would be an immense help.

On the nuts and bolts, the DIN designation should be included for each.

Steve
I made this spreadsheet of much, but certainly not all, of the hardware on my May '64 SC Cab
I had carefully bagged and labeled all the hardware when the car was disassembled and made the ss when I had to jumble everything together to send to the plater.

It worked well when I was putting the car back together.

To successfully run a business you must constantly be aware of your costs of materials. Porsche was cognizant of this. Hardware was purchased from the lowest priced supplier. While the DIN is similar, the hardware may not be exactly the same. When the cars were built no one cared! To think that Porsche could afford the time (which is cost) to have similar hardware on each car is a misconception. REMEMBER if you are using stainless hardware, you need to use anti-sieze on the threads. al zim
