I was climbing around those racks in 1983 for parts.
34 years later the same cars are still sitting there.

Not sure why Rudy got into Lexus parts in the 90's ?
I think he thought it would be the next craze ?
I was doing a clutch on this Chinese guy named Lee 356 and he knew Rudy,
we went up there and Lee told me to climb the racks and get some radio knobs.
Someone told me this Lee guy was a scammer so I asked for partial payment and
he said he was broke. This 356 sat for a week and I told him I wouldn't finish it unless
I got some money or something. Dude showed up with a Sony Betamax for payment.

Thought I was Mr Cool with this Betamax in 1983, 23 years old with a shop, constant surf and ski trips. parties.
Life was good back then. The next year got this Chilean gal pregnant then got married, quit working on VWs, became a electrician.
The Chilean is still here in 2017 even though my family thought she only wanted a ring for USA papers. Lol

Greg Bryan wrote:I was talking with one of the sheet metal replacement venders at last year's Lit Meet in LA saying I'm surprised that no one has yet produced an all steel Speedster body 'kit car'. He said, "It's coming."
It has begun, Mike at Restoration Design posted this earlier, full scan, production to follow.

The price of titled mud-mobiles just went up.

Supply and demand suggests that 356 prices will drop. Time will tell.

Will the trunk plate say "Made in Canada"?

Is a Canadian Speedster any more "real" than a plastic Speedster?

From a business standpoint it is a good and logical move for Mike.

A Canadian Speedster still wouldn't be real, but I would be satisfied with an identical copy, with a kit-car title.

Recently researched a new idea in 356 ownership. A financial investor will buy a 356. He will keep 10-15 interest in the Porsche Speedster or Convertable D, or Coupe. They will sell off the remaining investment in parts of 2,000 shares... max.

The prices continue to climb in early Porsches so you buy a share or 10 shares or what ever and you trade them just like STOCK! The original investor maintains control and inventory of the car.

When you buy a share your get a certificate just like buying Gold or Stock. When you want to sell you post "For Sale" and wait for the market to offer you a price you will accept.

Owning a Porsche is now a commodity and the market will dictate future prices. They intend to own about 1500 cars, at only 10% of the cost of buying the car.

People all over the world will be able to say I own a piece of a Porsche 356.

The interesting piece of this is the Investor who bought the 356 and created the shares will collect a FEE every time a share is bought or sold.

Do you think this is where the future 356's will end up? Do you have excess cash to invest? Makes the $ 14,200 car a possible candidate to be restored and sold off in shares. I'm sure you get glossy colored pictures of your new investment.

And the joy of ownership is........?

Surely you’re just joshing Dick.
If not,...just how would (could?) someone ever get an insurance agent to write a policy on something like this?
Not to mention... how one would actually define the object,..the 356?
It’s not a car anymore, likely can’t be driven, and really serves no automotive purpose.
I’ll stick to mutuals. Broad risk, steady returns. 8)

I’m still not convinced you’re not proposing this tongue in cheek, haha.

How many of those "investor Grade" cars get driven anyway? Don't they usually end up in some rich guys underground car bunker with all the fluids drained so nothing leaks on the black and white checkered tile floor?

Well here is why we want to investigate this opportunity.

A millennial pays a subscription fee to belong to an investor group to be able to buy shares in a 356. Subscription fee is income. ( Shark Tank). Then the millennial who owns 30% of the stock wants the car delivered to his office in Palo Alto for a day of driving a 356 . For a fee we can ship the car to Steve Douglas in Watsonville. He checks it out and drives it to Palo Alto and the Google Campus. Share owner walks out of his/her office and in front of thousand of Silicon Valley employees he/she opens the door to a beautiful 356 and turns the key on the left side and off he/she goes!
Steve takes Uber to Woodside and has lunch at the Dutch Goose!
Share holder goes to Half Moon Bay for a round of golf and then to San Francisco to drive HIS 356 down Lombard Street. Bucket List # 1.
Shareholder drives back on the Bayshore to Page Mill Road (Bucket List # 2) past Stranford and back to the office where Steve is waiting for him. Tells his/her friends on Social Media what he/she just did today.
Now pays fee with Google Stock. Company pays taxes on value and shares shares of stock with Steve Douglas.
See money has costs and is worth less as the cost of living goes up. But stock CAN increase in value! Money makes money.
Also friends who see the Facebook page of the share holder driving a 356 want to also buy shares and pay fees and maybe someday learn how to drive a three peddle 356! Cost of acquisition for new shareholders is very low. Social media drive interest
They do this with boats and airplanes and timeshares why not Porsche and other exotic cars.
Someone wants to go to a 356 Holiday and wants the car at the hotel!
We do this with Porsche Race cars. Driver shows up and the car is in the Pits and ready to race. ( Wayne Baker)

Have a great day and the 1965 C Coupe ....Ruby Rad is still for sale in Stillwater, MN

Gets out of the 356 in front of thousand of employees riding bikes and heads back to the office. Bucket List #3
