8G Bolt ID

#1 Post by Carl Swirsding »

I have my engine and transaxle out and found a bolt that had damaged threads that needs replacement. The head of the bolt says, "KARRO 8G." I assume KARRO is the manufacturer. Would the 8G be hardness? My question is whether the 8.8 hardness metric bolts I find at my local hardware store are similar in hardness to 8G?

TIA,

Carl

But they will have 13mm heads. If you want correctness, give me the length and I'll send you one. Assuming I have a Karro.

Vic and Mike,

Thank you both for your feedback. For this application no one will ever see that it has a 13 mm head. I truly appreciate the offer Vic. Very generous of you.

I made this spread sheet some years ago when I was restoring my car, a 64 SC Cab. You might find the bolt listed - length will be the key. I think they had several suppliers for bolts and any one of them could have supplied any of the standard bolts at any given time.

Greg,

Love your list. That will be useful as I reassemble my C Coupe.

Wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.
