for those w/ kardex access

#1 Post by G.F. Bown »

good morning.

trying to determine birth of my t5 87678. my coa/kardex search indicates ...

87593 is 2/18/60, and
87779 is 3/31/60

so ... 87678 is either late feb 60 or early mar 60.

bottom line ... looking for correct wheels.

tia, jeff.

You have about a 90 day window when matching wheels.

Adam is right, maybe even more. The factory did not care about such dates, so anomalies always exist.

Adam just supplied correct dated wheels for a '57 Cab we just sold. Fair price, and great service. Thanks Adam.

I expect that your car was invoiced about March 10 based on other cars. Kardex/COA dates are mostly invoice dates which can be weeks later than actual completion date. Your Kardex can be obtained.

Same holds true for carbs, coil, distributor, etc. These are usually dated 2-3 months or more before the cars build date. Not necessarily a window though since parts would have necessarily been built several weeks before the car.

Another date for you

87 685 - 11/3/60

Note this is the `actual` completion date
The date that this car received fuel and rolled off the line under its own power
