Jim, run the European and Mexican events with a real hot rod! Buy my 1955 Cabriolet 1300S(now 1622cc) race car. Very period correct(looking)(change the wheels) and old enough to run the premier events. I guarantee it to outrun the Abarth up the Alps.

CJ., I have Porsches that will do the run in Italy. But IT IS in Italy, mostly vintage Ferrari, and Maserati. It must be Italian to be fun for me, and what better way to show your colors against the field than with a 500 Fiat. Also it will fit in my Type II transporter. I'm considering the Concorso Italiano in Monterey. Truck it up in the bed of the VW.

What model year cutoff do they require? I don't know much about the European events but I have been told that some are restricted to mid-fifties and older cars. I guess they only allow cars that were built prior to the cancelation of the event.

CJ. you are correct. 1955 is the big key date for a lot of European events. That is why my Continental is a popular car there. The Fiat is a 70. I'm just taking a shot at this event. They have not approved my entry and I'm not sure of the cut off, there is no date published. They are looking for interesting cars.

I know, I know, what is interesting about a Fiat 500 ABARTH.

I have always liked Abarth cars, especially the old ones from the 1950s, early 1960s. I was in Italy in 1970 and was fascinated by all the Fiat 500s driving through the countryside flat out and sideways with their air horns blasting to announce their approach around blind corners. That's Italian! Passion, no matter how modest the car.
