Assembling the Hand Brake Mechanism

#1 Post by Greg Bryan »

I recently used the procedure written in the Talk Forums by Alan of The Stable in SF to reassemble my hand brake mechanism correctly. Some jackass did it wrong (a-hem) and it was working exactly backwards. Alan's instructions were easy to follow, or I got lucky, but when I did it, I took some pictures and added them to Alan's excellent instructions. See the attached PDF doc.

Excellent, Greg - if someone can’t get this job done with these two explanations then they should take their car to a mechanic!

Thank you Greg. Really helpful pictures and sequential instructions. Now if I could only remember to release the brake when I drive off....

Thanks Greg & Alan,

The instructions worked like a charm, I had already removed my e-brake mechanism to replaced the dust boot and was having a real hard time getting it to work properly; with your detailed instructions I was able to get it working perfectly in a couple of minutes on my first attempt.

Thanks a bunch!
Oscar.
