Dear Friends,
Today honored to own notch 006 .

Please enjoy the shot.
IK
Here is the Mike's info for the 200 006 :
"Not just the 1st Sunroof - it was the First Notch completed
Here are the dates of the first 30 cars (These dates are the `Actual Dates` when the car first received Fuel and was driven off the line)
It is a good example of just how mixed up the Chassis numbers became
It also needs bearing in mind that all the other current models were also being assembled on the line at the same time "

That really is a bonus
Looking at your Kardex (very quickly) I cannot see a radio but a Blaupunkt Koln WAS fitted to it
I see also that it received its S90 Motor in Jan 62 - I wondered when that happened - now I have to bring my records up-to-date

Is it me or is there no sunroof in the white car in the picture?

Hi Jules,
May be the Angle....Also he is the Chief engineer, anything could happen the car when in the Factory.
Mr Klauser drove her over 80,000 km
Factory sold it in 1963
Here are few shots of Mr. Klauser

Dear Mike,
Thank you for the info.
Here is the picture of the radio.
I think S90 engine installed in 1967
Here are few shots of the 006 before
extensive restoration started by Terry Worick in Nebraska

Re: " The Good News " Factory picture of 200006 Hardtop S/R
I would guess that the sunroof was added later than the car was built since it has a VW type crank actuation. Porsche would have used the same manual pull back type as used on the regular coupes and removable hardtops. The George Bryan/Fred Coward/Mike Smith car has an electric sunroof like the ones sometimes fitted after the fact to As and T-5s. It seems to me that both cars had sunroofs added after the cars were completed.

CJ,
Would the paint will get damage if sunroof done later....How would they do all that spot welding, cutting the roof etc without damaging the paint.
In the mean time searching for more pictures of 006 in different angles .
Hardtop ( Notchback )coupes had a lot of extra sound deadening material all over the car.
Here showing original extra horse hair in the rear seat and tunnel area.

From CJ -
CJ - I am sure that you are correct about some sunroofs being fitted at a later date
This is almost certainly the case with 200 296
The car was sold to Max Moritz a well establish and highly respected dealer in Reutlingen
There is no mention of a sunroof on the Kardex BUT there is mention of an Additional Metre of Headlining Material and the fitting is certainly not an amateur job.
In the 70`s I had a Webasto Folding Top cut into a New 1600 Alfa Giulia. It was effected without any drama or the need for any paintwork repairs and out lived the rest of the car which, as you would expect - rotted away under it

Re: " The Good News " Factory picture of 200006 Hardtop S/R
There is a "new" photograph of #20006 from the same photo shoot, with the pretty brunette, in Leffingwell's new Porsche 70 Years. Clearly there was no sunroof at that time. Leffingwell's book is of interest in that it provides an amazingly learned discussion of the economic situation, including currency fluctuations and how they effected Porsche.
