seems like the restoration expense wasn't a smart thing to do. unless the car was worthless to begin with.

It's interesting that the write-up doesn't mention "matching numbers."

there are a few issues with the write up. 98 hp with Zenith carbs whereas it clearly has solexes mounted. According to my records it is matching.

Just when the market seemed soft for '62 Roadsters, a world-record (I think) price. The repainted Oslo blue S90 seems a better deal.

Is the installation of the cigarette lighter correct? On my car, and the others I have seen, the ignition switch is part of a rectangle whose other corners are the headlight switch, hand throttle, and fog-light switch (If installed).

Hi Ed

at least this car's description was excellent. The red one at Mecum wasn't even a S90 but advertized as an original. Someone got hosed on that one (now for sale at ParkPlace in SFO).

89663 had an interior color change (as stated in listing), but did not have a lighter nor fog lights from the factory. Options on 89663 were limited to reclining seats, super hubcaps, chrome wheels and konis. Black was a special order color at the time.

Jules, what was the original motor in the red-blue car? It was on eBay last night but is gone now. Thanks, Ed

Hey Ed,

89748 left the factory with 6069xx, a 1600N. no record of it receiving a factory replacement Super 90 in any of my records. Sold new through Sonauto Paris to a GI from Washington state. Oslo blue 6203A with a red vinyl interior.

There is another black over green twin grill down there somewhere, with rudge wheels and the luggage. It's was on eBay for a day and was withdrawn 8-10 years ago. Beautiful like this one. John had 40-50 photos of this restoration on his web site. Amazing work.

Is it so nice that the price was within reason?

As much as I love my car, I think I'd be pretty tempted to let it go for $500k. It will be interesting to see if this price range holds.

All my cars could be had for a little more than half that amount.

Over-glossed Black sheet metal isn't correct, either.
