Brakes
I am trying to get my project 1963 356 rolling. My left rear wheel is locked. I took off the tire and I am looking at the drum. Is there a special tool needed to open the brake drum. Does anyone know how to remove the brake drum to clean inside? Thank you:-) !

Re: Brakes
You can try using a decent-sized hammer and a block of wood, and hit around the edges of the backing plate, hammering towards the outside, in other words 90 degrees to the direction the car rolls. If you are lucky it will get things unstuck, then you can remove the 36 mm center nut and slide the drum off. It may not give up without a struggle.

David,
First of all where are you?
Please add your location to your profile.
If I understand the wheel won't turn.
As Martin added you might have to smack solidly but don't use a steel hammer. I would loosen the axle nut first.
If the drum turns while attempting to loosen it continue until the adjusting hole is at approx. 7:00 o'clock and loosen the adjuster then on to position 5:00 o'clock
and loosen that adjuster.
If that isn't whats happening disregard.
Repost the symptom.
