The lady in this photo was the wife of an avid Porsche owner. ( she was shaken up but otherwise unhurt), I believe he was a university professor. The couple owned several 356s in the 1960s.

Should read BAD DAY, Geoff, you are right, Dick Garrett was a professor at Orange Coast College in Cost Mesa according to the write up. Love going through these old Christophorus magazines. Porsche was so involved with its customers, it no surprise that its customers are so loyal.
My first Porsche was a 65 911, bought while I was in college, I've been a loyal Porsche slave since.

Rusty,
...and she rolled it at about 100mph, according to the article! She was also pictured later that year, while standing in a sunroof coupe...maybe a replacement for the crumpled Conv. D.
Right you are about becoming a Porsche slave...we all suffer from this disease!

This is not the stuff we want to see as we load up our mates and head into the Heartland on holiday! Golly, I think I'll have to keep it under 80 all the way.

An old story about a bad day in a coupe

#9 Post by Tom Coughlin »

It reminds me that a lady neighbor upon seeing my car told me "years ago I rolled one of those". Since most people don't even recognize what kind of car it is (blue, right?) I had to hear that story. It was back in the day and she had been driving a friend's coupe in the SW on a long flat, straight road at high speed, and it may have been at night. The road dipped into a shallow area and the dip had a small curve in the road where there was sand across the road which caused her to lose the back end end roll it.
Some fifty years later I let her drive mine and she was able to get us back to her house without issue. Of course this time she drove like the old lady that she is.
