I have some sheet metal screw holes that are stripped out. Door panel, real quarter window latch, sun visors. etc. Not all of them but, a screw hole here and there. I know I can weld them and re drill. Also thought of using a nutsert.
Just wondering if someone has a fix for this issue.
Thanks for your help,

Re: Stripped Sheet Metal Screw Hole Suggestions
If it is something non critical you can cut a couple of small slivers of sheet metal about 1 mm wide and 10 mm long, bent into a V. You put one leg of the v into the hole (1 or 2 per hole) and then put the screw in, works pretty well. You need nice crisp, sharp tinsnips to be able to cut them.

You could also use JB Weld and redrill the holes.

Re: Stripped Sheet Metal Screw Hole Suggestions
A few short loops of iron wire inserted into the hole does the trick and you don't even have to be handy with tin snips like Martin!

Re: Stripped Sheet Metal Screw Hole Suggestions
Go to the hardware store and buy some thin stainless steel foil: The foil is much thinner than that used for HVAC ducts... It comes rolled-up in a plastic tube....about 12" long...
Here are the details on some from an ACE hardware store:
K&S Engineering
Chicago, Ill
.002 Stainless
44 Gauge
12"x30"
Stock No. 6030
$12.49 (8-21-17)--current price at: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WT ... LXS033&P=8
Cut into U-shaped strips that tuck into the holes. Leave 1/8 to 1/4 inch "ears" on the outside of the hole so the "U" doesn't fall through. Works for those big holes for your interior door panel screws and for refastening the “Porsche” emblem's studs on the rear of the car.
