356 SC shifting problem
Shifting in all gears used be really smooth. After an hour of steady 60mph driving, shifting went to crap. Shifting into third throws it in first, and its popping out of fourth when I can get it in. Was supposed to go to Monterey Tues, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bushings and coupler. Go here for parts breakdown. Your coupler probably fell apart.

Pulled off shifter and inspection door and found the crumbs that used to be the plastic bits.

Not hard to replace if you have the parts of if someone near you does. Where are you located? I have the rear coupler parts if you are near SW Michigan.

If you are a 356CAR member start calling, lots of 356s near you and someone may have the parts you need to be on the road Tuesday.

Re: 356 SC shifting problem
There are bushings available everywhere. The red urathane ones are easy now. I used to have to make them from brass to repair the joint. There are a few YouTube videos on how to replace them. It's a DYI.

Re: 356 SC shifting problem
Hey John, are those brass bushings you used to make a better/tighter/longer lasting option ?
My red urethane ones have some slop, after looking at them from under car ,I want to change them
up shifting is getting worse as to the point of having to double clutch to ease all the way into next higher gear sometimes
I see Pelicanparts has some of the brass ones for sale...$ 50. + a pair, are they harder to press in coupler ,etc?
Has anyone else tried them?
thanks,
dm
