Great story Sebastian. Thank you for sharing. I don't know what it is about these pieces of metal and rubber, but they stir the heart. I took mine out for a drive yesterday, enjoying every shift of the gear, and afterwards, while wiping it down, just admired its beauty and engineering. And yes, the useless information is a great obsession for the brain. Congratulations on 25 years.

This is so neat to see how long folks have had there love affair with there 356. One thing is for sure these little cars stir the heart when driving them. Love all the stories.

I'll drive fast enough to keep the car "happy" and dodge the haybales. David.

I think I first saw you and your coupe at the Columbus, OH Holiday during the road rally they set up. I passed you going the other way in our 55 coupe, so one of us was lost.

Wow Chuck,
We are running about the same time line. I got my A coupe in 67 also.
Only problem these days is my wife doesn't like to sweat anymore.
Mostly drive 62 Notchback with redneck a/c to keep her happy.

Would that be the vent windows or a VW style Swamp Cooler?

Yep, summers are not going to be her driving season in that one. We are building a vacation house in NW Arkansas which is a lot cooler. Trouble is my 45 year old son is bonkers about it and he's here in DFW. That would lock him out so I've got to think twice about moving it up there.

Great stories, I have only had my car for less then 8 yrs, but have spent many hours just admiring it over a "few" beers in the shop. Now that I am driving it I have a whole new appreciation for it.

Hey Sebastian, The cooling system I made up is kind of a swamp cooler. It works very well for what it is. I made box(looks like vintage suit case). Very well insulated with plastic liner, vented in back, air is pulled through ice. Fan motor is on out side . Twelve volt is the real advantage. I used a 914 two outlet fan with 2 1/2 duct hose going around back of seats to driver, the other to passenger. Once I put ice in box is sealed tight and not reopened until it stop cooling (when ice runs out). Melted water drains out by tube under car. I keep windows closed, When the cabin is cool I am recycling cool air back in the box. Of course the temp outside determines how long the ice last. At 90 degrees outside it will maintain about 68 degrees. When I stop for gas on a trip I throw in a couple more bags of ice.
sorry for the long ramble, just didn't want you to think it was the old style swamp cooler.
