registry grill badge
Hi all,
Recently i bought a 356 registry badge and what strikes me is that it have 2 gold rings opposite the new ones with one ring.
the fixing to grill is also different.
Could someone tell me wat the difference is between both badges?
thanks!

Re: registry grill badge
That's either a pretty old badge or a counterfeit. Where did you buy it? EBay?
The new ones have been the same for about 20-25 years, at least. It's hard to tell, but the finish doesn't look very good on this one and both the "PORSCHE" and the
Registry lettering is a little, ah, haphazard. Note the "i" position. The year numbers are also poorly spaced. Is that enamel or cloisonne? I would suggest to anyone who wants a badge, just buy Diane's Goodie Store official version. It's nicer than this, and a cheap at $40.

Re: registry grill badge
At one time I think Diane numbered the back of the Registry grill badges. When she created the 50 year Registry grill badge , 1948 1998, she numbered them. I have # 183. I got my order in late and a certain person reserved # 356.

Re: registry grill badge
Both the Registry badges and the Emory Outlaw badges have been knocked off and sold on ebay for some time, the quality has been pretty low on the fakes. Also, I think the Emory Outlaw was always a badge of honor if given one, now anyone can buy them, kind of ruins the moment.Ron LaDow wrote:Sorta like counterfeiting $1 bills.Gordon Maltby wrote:That's either a pretty old badge or a counterfeit. Much the same as "black plates" in California. The only difference is that the California DMV is the one counterfeiting black plates and the one reaping the profits.Adam Wright wrote:Both the Registry badges and the Emory Outlaw badges have been knocked off and sold on ebay for some time, the quality has been pretty low on the fakes. Re: registry grill badge
I bought the badge here in the classifieds and thought it was an old badge, i paid $50 but paid $49 to much like Ron said but i am not ruin
There is a 356 grill badge thread in the authenticity corner and the same fake badge is there in a picture and thought this was older one.
there is one for sale on e-bay for the moment $239
If the new ones exist about 25 years how where the later ones than?
thanks!

Re: registry grill badge
I'm glad you didn't pay a lot for that. It appears the same as the badges being sold on eBay for $250 or so. As Adam mentioned, some people are knocking off car badges of all kinds. I saw a cheap (in every way but price) knockoff of the Registry 25th anniversary badge I designed and produced years ago. I guess I should be flattered.
By the way, the club has a license agreement in place with Porsche AG and PCNA that allows us to use the name Porsche and trademarks/trade dress. These phonies are engaged in trademark infringement. Don't buy their crap, especially when a real live Registry badge is nicer and cheaper.

Could you re-phrase that question? Not sure I understand.

I suppose the badge at all times was the same like the early years of the registry?Gordon Maltby wrote:I'm glad you didn't pay a lot for that. Seeing a Prius with black plates pretty much killed it for me. Having a blue plate is where it's at now.Jim Breazeale wrote:Much the same as "black plates" in California. Re: registry grill badge
We all have a cd set ,from the 356 Goodie Store, of 20 years of the registry magazine. Treat yourself to fantastic art work from the magazine covers. Open the cds and see the history of the 356 Registry.
The grill badge sheet shows the early days of the registry and some thoughts that went into a design that maybe we take for granted.
One name appears over and over again.

Re: registry grill badge
Does anyone know if this badge from the early 80’s is authentic or a counterfeit?

Re: registry grill badge
It's real but not authentic.
I'm sure it really wouldn't matter unless you are selling it.
