Jack Location

My 62 Hardtop came without a jack or a noticeable place to mount it. I now have a jack and looking for a place where it belongs.

Bob,

The jack fits under the plastic cover in the trunk on the passenger side.
That's assuming it's LHD otherwise contact Mike Smith.

Bob, I have coupe 117668 [68th t6] and it does have a clip for jack on right side above battery area. Car has been repaired from hit in this area so not positive that it's original though, but it appears to be.

Thanks for the information. The jack resides under the cover on the passenger side. I was hoping for a more elegant solution.

That's as elegant as Porsche did it........ Saved the cost of a couple clips.
Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.....

I suspect the change from clips on the nose to no clips was based upon the change in gas tanks. Of course the oddball clips on the side must have been experimental and discontinued. I wonder if you put the jack in wrong on the side, the hood would be seriously dented.

Mike

I've been trying to pin down how many R6 Karmann Hardtops and 62 T6 Cabriolets were equipped with jack clips and have come up with just a wild guess. I'm pretty confident that only the first 100 or so cars of each body style got them. The bottom sender gas tank went for most, if not all, of the 62 model year.

Jim: checking the parts manuals doesn't help with the question of bottom-sended fuel tanks. The B Supplement lists #644.201.001.06 as a tank with "indicator from below" with the chassis numbers when it started but neither the B Supplement nor the C parts manuals lists when the top sender replaced it. Maybe there is a factory suplement that indicated the change?

Bob, my RHD 62-3 car has the clip mount in the well under/behind the spare tyre.
