Brad,
Is this the BSP or BSPT thread spec? If not, where do I find metric fittings for oil lines?

AFAIK, there are no metric fittings for oil lines in that size, other than the banjo bolts you see there.

Ok. I'm confused. Want to install an oil pressure gauge (in addition to existing idiot light) on my 356. How do I plumb it in?

Last time I did one (which was just after the rise of the mammalian species), the sender screwed into the top of #42, replacing #49. It sends a pressure signal to the gauge and mine keeps the idiot light function with a second terminal
If you are considering running a 'wet' line to the front to hook to a gauge, I encourage you to use the electronic sender/gauge combo; electrons don't make nearly the mess that oil does if it leaks.

Ron,
Did you use 914 dual circuit sender to power idiot light and electric OP gauge?

Not AFAIK; it was a VDO aftermarket part.

Order this sender http://www.stoddard.com/64474150406-nla.html which will allow the instrument light to work and also power a pressure gauge in the dash.

You will need the gauge: http://www.stoddard.com/64474150016-nla.html and ....
to put the gauge in the dash in place of the clock you will need an adaptor ring -- maybe we have it; call me

Or, there is a VDO mount for below the dash -- comes in 1, 2, or 3 holes.

One of our vendors also has an oil pressure gauge that fits the clock hole without an adapter ring.

The diameter of the clock is 60 mm. The diameter of the accessory gauges is 52 mm. You will need reducing ring, VDO 600 851 available from anybody stocking VDO stuff including Amazon.

If you want to mount the gauge below the dash, see Amazon "VDO 240 027"

Or, the ultimate, have Palo Alto make up this so-called 904 triple combi gauge http://www.paspeedo.com/porsche914combi.htm

In 2012 I purchased a VDO 60 mm oil pressure gauge and the sending unit (with both pressure and light connections) from North Hollywood Speedometer. I haven't checked with them lately to see if the 60 mm gauges are still available, however.

Wes, thanks for the update. Just now I called North Hollywood Speedometer and found they will custom build a 60 mm oil pressure gauge with green face which will replace the clock directly.
